That’s a Wrap: Halloween 2017

I think we hit a home run this year with our sea pirate yard display. The main attraction was a real a ghost ship crewed by skeleton pirates navigating a  thunderstorm that was so realistic it scared some little ones away. Or could it have been brother Robert with the ghostly eyes and drooping head, chasing a few unsuspecting trick-or-treaters with a bowl full of candy?

It took a bit of time to conceptualize the theme, but once we got started the displays came together easier than I expected. Mother Nature did her part by ignoring the forecast and treating us to a clear and unseasonably warm evening.   

Whatever the attraction or deterrent, we had an unprecedented turnout of visitors with vehicles lining the road all evening. The 12 dozen cupcakes we rolled out earlier in the day barely made it through the night.  

And as we round out the home stretch to an epic Halloween night, we also close out the final ½ week of the Halloween moviefest.  Five reruns to keep me company during the long hours in the test kitchen: Rob Zombie's remake of Halloween, the 1981 sequel to the original Halloween, Halloween II, the 1999 remake of The Mummy with Brendan Frasier, Insidious 3, and, because it seemed appropriate, Ghost Ship.  

So that's a wrap for the 2017 Halloween season.  31 days, 38 movies, 7 all new films, 31 reruns, no duplicates.  And now, a quick tour of the Halloween display.  Enjoy.
